As Amy & Caleb are counting down the days until their October 7th wedding, I wanted to share some of their lovely couple portraits from their Texas engagement session. We photographed their e-session at Amy’s parent’s land in Rockwall, Texas. With wide open fields, a pond, red barn, and horse in residence, it’s every bit as Texan as you can imagine!
One sweet detail that stood out to me was how prepared Caleb was for our Texas engagement session. He packed a cooler with water bottles so we didn’t get overheated. Caleb thought of all the details – bug spray and a blanket for sitting. He was so thoughtful and attentive. Caleb knows how to rock an engagement session and take care of his bride-to-be!
My favorite moment was when the couple decided to be adventurous with me and wade out into the pond. Caleb swept Amy off her feet during the perfect golden hour lighting and, believe me, it was as dreamy as can be!
It has been positively lovely to get to know Amy & Caleb and watch their wedding dreams grow into reality. They’ve worked so hard to plan every detail. I know it will be everything they’ve hoped for and I can’t wait to document their wedding day.
I asked Amy to share a bit of their love story with us. Here is what she had to say:
1) How did you two meet?
We are high school sweethearts. We had a double-blocked English and History class together our junior year, and that’s really when we started to get to know each other.
2) How long have you been together?
We started dating the summer after our junior year of high school so we have been together for 6 years and 3 months.
3) How did the proposal go?
The proposal was absolutely perfect! Since we had been dating for so long, I did not expect to be surprised by the proposal. I thought I would see it coming. But Caleb definitely surprised me!
He used our 5 year dating anniversary as a decoy, telling me that I should wear something dressy and block out the whole day for a big surprise. So, when we went to the beach at Galveston a couple of weeks before our anniversary, I wasn’t expecting a proposal at all! He had a very elaborate plan, and he pulled it off perfectly! He gave me a beautiful dress as a gift for our “date night” at a nice seafood restaurant. We enjoyed a delicious dinner, and then he casually suggested we take a walk on the beach. After a few minutes of walking, I saw this amazing display with rustic wooden signs and candlelit pathway, leading up to a heart in the sand. He walked me down the pathway into the heart, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him.
I know we will both always treasure the memories of that special day.
4) Who picked the ring?
I have to brag on Caleb again. He picked the ring, and it is perfect! I never saw it before the proposal, and I couldn’t be happier with it!
5) What did you particularly enjoy about your Texas engagement session? What was the experience like for you?
We had so much fun during our engagement portrait session! Neither of us take a lot of pictures, so we both appreciated Ranjani gently coaching us on how to pose to get the best photos.
I think our favorite thing about the images is that Ranjani truly captured our relationship and personalities. Even though she would help us with how to stand or where to put our hands, everything felt natural and comfortable.
Ranjani was so creative in framing the shots, but she was also very attentive in asking us if there were any specific pictures we wanted and listening to our ideas.
I can’t wait to see how she captures our wedding day! We did a lot of research on photographers before we booked with Ranjani, and we could not have made a better choice! If you are considering booking with her, I absolutely recommend it; you won’t regret it!
